EngageAI: AI-Driven Persuasive Technology to Enhance Student Engagement in Digital Learning Environments
Website: https://persuasiveai.wordpress.com/

The proposed tutorial addresses a critical challenge in higher education: student engagement in online learning environments. With increasing university attrition rates, and six times higher in online delivery modes worldwide, there is an urgent need for innovative solutions to enhance student engagement and retention.

This tutorial aligns with key educational objectives:

  • Improving student retention and success in digital learning environments using persuasive design and technologies
  • Leveraging AI technology ethically and effectively in education
  • Enhancing personalized learning experiences at scale
  • Supporting evidence-based teaching practices
  • Promoting student autonomy while providing structured support

The EngageAI approach represents a significant advancement in educational technology by combining AI-driven nudges with psychological principles to create timely, personalized interventions that respect student autonomy while promoting engagement.

Workshop

The 1st International Workshop on Upholding Ethical Designs (I-WOULD 2025)
Website: https://iwould2025.wordpress.com/

The I-WOULD 2025 workshop addresses the growing concern of unethical designs (dark patterns) in digital platforms. These deceptive practices, such as sneak into basket, bait and switch, and confirm shaming, have become widespread due to financial incentives, compromising user experience. The workshop brings together HCI/UX experts to examine the characteristics, mechanisms, and impact of these designs, aiming to reduce their prevalence in digital environments.

Workshop

Understanding the intersection between technology acceptance and digital behaviour change
Website:  https://srfg.at/techacceptance-workshop

This half-day workshop brings together researchers and practitioners interested in the intersection of behavior change and technology acceptance. The workshop contributes to a better understanding of integrated models that combine technology acceptance models with perceived persuasiveness, enhancing the predictive power for long-term behavior change, particularly in areas like health interventions and urban mobility. Moreover, best practices for designing technology enabled interventions could be discussed and the value of qualitative as well as quantitative models.

Workshop

Persuasion and AI Disclosure: Building Trust in Synthetic Media
Website: https://aunmedia.org/AIDisclosure/

This workshop aims to examine the intersection of AI disclosure practices and persuasive communication, with particular attention to how different disclosure approaches might influence audience reception and trust. By bringing together scholars from communication, psychology, ethics, and computer science studies, we seek to develop evidence-based frameworks for understanding and implementing effective disclosure practices that promote transparency while maintaining the beneficial applications of synthetic media technologies

Workshop

13th International Workshop on Behavior Change Support Systems (BCSS 2025)
Website: https://bcssworkshop.wordpress.com/

The Behavior Change Support Systems (BCSS) workshop is a conference-style gathering focused on information systems designed to facilitate behavior and attitude changes in individuals and groups. Through persuasive technology that provides multimodal feedback, these systems aim to strengthen emotional, social, and physical presence for personal change, showing particular success in health and wellbeing domains. The workshop serves as an interdisciplinary forum connecting researchers from information systems, human-computer interaction, psychology, and medicine to address current challenges in understanding how human-computer interactions shape attitudes and behavior. While digital persuasion has shown promise, researchers acknowledge it as an ongoing process rather than a one-time event, with many aspects of technological persuasion still not fully understood. This year’s theme “ Generative AI and behavior change support systems: Leveraging innovations for a lasting impact” explores the role of generative AI in developing more effective behavior change support systems, emphasizing the need for flexible solutions that promote lasting behavioral modifications across various domains.
